βš™οΈ What Is VK Log Checker?

VK Log Checker is a purpose-built, fully automated log-submission and cross-checking system designed specifically for Australian amateur radio contests.

Developed in conjunction with DotEukali and Alan Shannon Computers & Cabling, the platform automates verification, scoring, and ranking for multiple WIA-recognised events β€” making life easier for both contesters and contest managers.

It’s 100 % Australian and 100 % brilliant. πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

πŸͺœ How to Upload Your Log

A quick visual guide for smooth submissions

Step Action Tip
βœ… 1. Export Your Log In your contest logger (e.g. VKCL), choose β€œExport Cabrillo v3”. Don’t edit the file manually.
πŸ“€ 2. Go to vklogchecker.com Select your contest from the list. Upload opens only during official log windows.
βœ‰οΈ 3. Include Your Email Make sure your log header includes a line like:
EMAIL: yourname@provider.com
Ensures you get a confirmation email.
🧠 4. Check Details Verify name, address, postcode, and callsign are correct. These details appear on certificates.
🏁 5. Submit & Confirm Upload your file β€” confirmation appears on screen. Robot reply sent if EMAIL line included.
πŸŽ‰ 6. Celebrate! You’re in the results queue β€” no extra steps required. Grab a coffee and wait for your certificate! β˜•

πŸ“… Supported Contests

VK Log Checker currently supports:

  • πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί Australia Day Contest – 26 January

  • πŸ–οΈ FISTS Down Under – 3rd weekend in February

  • ⚑ QRP Hours Contest – April and October

  • πŸ”” Harry Angel Memorial Contest – 1st Saturday in May

  • πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ CQ Pride Contest – 1st weekend in June

  • πŸ—ΊοΈ VK Shires Contest – 2nd weekend in June

  • 🌊 Trans-Tasman Low-Band Contest – Saturday of 3rd weekend in July

  • πŸŽ–οΈ Remembrance Day Contest – Weekend closest to 15 August

Uploads open and close automatically based on each event’s submission window.

🧩 Cabrillo 3 Format Only

All logs must be in Cabrillo Version 3 format.
Logs will be rejected if:

  • Submitted outside log windows

  • Have the wrong contest name

  • Contain missing header info or invalid QSO lines

  • Include edited or non-standard header fields

If that happens, fix the issue in your logger and re-export the file.

πŸ“‹ Required Contest Names

Make sure your Cabrillo header includes the correct CONTEST: line:

WIA-AUSTRALIADAY
WIA-REMEMBRANCE
WIA-TRANS TASMAN
WIA-HARRY ANGEL
WIA-VK SHIRES
CQPRIDE
QRPHOURS

πŸ’‘ Tip: In VKCL, just pick the right contest before exporting β€” no manual edits needed.

βœ‰οΈ Confirmation & Certificates

If your Cabrillo file includes your email line (EMAIL:), you’ll receive a robot reply confirming a successful upload and β€” for some events β€” an automatic certificate mail-out once scores are finalised.
Even without the email line, you’ll still see an on-screen confirmation after submission.

🧠 Best Practices

  • Keep your logger up to date.

  • Always double-check your exchange and callsign before exporting.

  • Don’t rename or manually edit your Cabrillo file.

  • Submit early to avoid deadline rush.

πŸ› οΈ For Contest Managers

The VK Log Checker includes an admin interface allowing contest managers to:

  • Create and schedule contests.

  • Open/close log-submission windows automatically.

  • View uploaded logs in real time.

  • Generate verified score lists instantly.

It saves hours of manual checking, reduces email clutter, and delivers faster, fairer results.

🏁 Why VK Log Checker Matters

For years, contest managers manually sorted hundreds of logs.
Now, VK Log Checker automates the heavy lifting β€” verifying, cross-checking, and ranking entries so that both participants and organisers can focus on what really matters: radio sport and results.

No more confusion, no more lost logs.
Just fast, accurate, transparent contest processing β€” the VK way.
